As the managing editor for MCPT’s financial team, Teddy develops and oversees content for MCPT’s workshops, newsletter, website and social media content. It’s her job to spread the word about MCPT’s mission to help students find the best-fit college at the lowest-possible price for their family. To that end, she also works with MCPT’s publicist to respond to media requests, and has been quoted by outlets including U.S. News and BestCompany.
As a client service manager, Teddy creates customized college funding plans detailing the most cost-efficient options for parents to pay for college. She helps families identify income, asset, and borrowing strategies to reduce college costs and increase eligibility for financial aid. She also assists clients with the appeals and negotiations process, reviews their award letters, and monitors each client’s progress until all of their children are out of college.
Teddy is a recognized journalist and student loans expert, having written extensively about topics including repayment strategies, income-driven repayment plans and federal loan forgiveness programs.
As a former lead writer for NerdWallet, a personal finance site with more than 10 million monthly visitors, her work has been published by outlets including USA Today, the Associated Press and MSN. Her reporting about student loan scams was cited in a 2017 letter to the U.S. Secretary of Education from several U.S. senators, including Elizabeth Warren.
Teddy grew up in Des Plaines, Illinois and has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She currently lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her new husband and their lab puppy, Berkeley.
