Lalaine is a dedicated counselor/specialist within the Student Support Services Team at My
College Planning Team. With close to 17 years of experience as a licensed 7-12 School
Counselor, Lalaine brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team.

Throughout her career, Lalaine has held various roles focused on serving Special Education
students and their families. This includes four years as a Special Education Counselor in a high
school setting and her current role as a Special Services Counselor for a high school district in
San Diego. Lalaine’s commitment to supporting students with disabilities stems from her
personal and professional experiences, finding immense reward in helping these students
navigate their educational journey.

In addition to Lalaine’s work in the high school setting, She also serves as a Student Success
Coach for first-year, first-generation college students, aiding them in navigating their inaugural
year of college. Lalaine’s dedication to student success extends beyond the high school walls,
ensuring that all students have the support they need to thrive in their educational endeavors.
Lalaine holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Education from San
Diego State University and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Azusa Pacific
University. As a single mom, she takes great pride in their son, who graduated from UCSD with
a bachelor’s in Aerospace Engineering in 2023.

Outside of work, Lalaine enjoys traveling, cultivating their plant collection, and spending quality
time with friends and family, including their two beloved pugs.Lalaine’s passion for ensuring that
all students, including those with disabilities, have the support and resources they need to thrive
and reach their full potential is evident in her work. She is eager to contribute her skills and
knowledge to this mission and collaborate with colleagues in helping students and their families
navigate the college journey successfully.
