Paige Buttels is the college/career counselor at public high school in the west suburbs of Chicago. Prior to this position, Paige worked in another school district as a generalist school counselor for four years. Paige also works part-time at a local community college as the TRIO Upward Bound college/career counselor, supporting disadvantaged and first-generation high school students to support their college exploration, career planning and develop life skills to overcome barriers and cycles of achievement gaps.
In Paige’s role as a school college/career counselor, she teaches classroom lessons to students grades 9-12 focused on the college and career planning processes through personal college/career exploration, research and planning. She enjoys helping students learn about career pathways and connecting students to professionals in their local communities to increase awareness of the careers they are interested in.
Paige was a first-generation college student. She earned her bachelor’s degree with a major in psychology and minor in Spanish at Illinois State University. She earned her master’s degree in counseling at Northern Illinois University. Paige has also been published in Collegiate Parent.
