High School Outreach Counselor (Part-time, Contract)

My College Planning Team is seeking a high school counselor, college admissions counselor, student college advisor, or other relevant professional to join our outreach team In expanding our free workshops to high schools across the U.S.   

When your outreach work is finished, you will be given the opportunity to join our Student Support Team helping our students with a wide range of services to assist them on their journey to college. If you enjoy public speaking, you can also earn additional income speaking at our workshops and webinars, which are currently hosted by over 150 high schools and libraries across the country. 

You can also speak at workshops, write blogs, and perform other tasks.

The mission of MCPT is to empower, engage, and support families with financial and academic strategies to reduce cost and gain students admission at a best-fit college.

Job Description: The high school outreach counselor must have strong skills in marketing and communications as they will play a crucial role in bringing our college planning workshops to high schools nationwide. We are currently seeking counselors to join us in reaching out to high schools that will benefit from our free college planning workshops for parents of college-bound students. You will be responsible for creating contact lists, making initial contact, and informing high school counselors about the workshops that MCPT offers. Our marketing team will be available to support you with writing email copy and scheduling events.workshops and webinars.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a school counselor, college admissions counselor, student advisor or other relevant role
  • Has strong connections within school districts and/or the school counseling community and will use those connections to book workshops and create awareness of MCPT
  • Involved in local or national counseling or higher education associations or other activities that demonstrate a commitment to your profession
  • Excellent communications, marketing, and organization skills

 

Qualification Responsibilities in your role as a student support counselor:

  • Counsels students and their families on academic, career, and post-secondary planning, adapting to their unique needs, circumstances, and stage in the process
  • Provides education to clients surrounding the college planning process
  • Conducts research based upon the client’s needs and interests 
  • Stays current with admissions trends and Is familiar with a wide variety of college planning resources, both those available to the general public and those available within school systems
  • Connects the client with resources to assist them in the career and college planning process, both inside and outside of their high school
  • Completes other duties as assigned

 

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: Your work with students is $60.00 per hour. Pay for other work varies according to the task being performed and will be reviewed with you on your interview. Bonuses and other incentives are available for your work in high school outreach

Expected hours: Varies according to the time-of-year
